Course Description

This course features highlights of the STI 60th Anniversary Stock Market Opening (SMO) Ceremony held in Jan 2026.

Value unlocking helps a company address the gap between its underlying business value and how the market recognises that value. Understanding this process matters to directors and finance professionals because it can inform strategic decisions, capital allocation, and communication with investors.

Drawing on regulator, investor, and listed-company perspectives, this panel explores how companies can identify value-unlocking opportunities through business growth, portfolio and capital decisions, and stronger investor engagement. It also considers the board’s role in overseeing change, balancing growth with shareholder returns, and supporting sound governance and disclosure. Participants will gain a practical lens for assessing value-unlocking initiatives and distinguishing them from value traps.

The panel discussion, moderated by Wang Joong Shik, Partner at EY-Parthenon, features insights from Lai Yeu Huan (Amova Asset Management), Kong Chee Min (Centurion Corporation) and Michael Tang (SGX RegCo), bringing together perspectives from investment management, corporate leadership and regulatory oversight.
