About

Laurent Lequeu is an independent financial consultant, macro strategist, and founder of The Macro Butler Ltd , a research platform focused on the intersection of macroeconomics, geopolitics, long-term cycles, and portfolio strategy. With almost three decades of experience across global financial markets, he advises ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and institutions on capital allocation, risk management, and navigating structural regime shifts.

Laurent began his career in Luxembourg before relocating to Singapore in 2012, where he spent over a decade managing multi-asset portfolios across fixed income, equities, commodities, and currencies. His professional background spans traditional asset management as well as commodity and currency, giving him a broad perspective on all asset classes.

He holds a Master of Science in Business Engineering from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management and a Fintech Certificate from MIT, combining classical financial training with a strong understanding of technological and market innovation. Fluent in French and English, with working knowledge of Portuguese and Spanish, Laurent operates globally and regularly engages with international investors and policymakers.

Through The Macro Butler newsletter, academy, and advisory services, Laurent is known for his cycle-based approach to macro analysis, particularly on monetary policy, energy, commodities, and the erosion of purchasing power in fiat systems. He is an active commentator on financial markets, a frequent guest on international media, and a speaker at investor conferences, including TSAM Singapore. His work emphasizes intellectual independence, historical context, and disciplined preparation for uncertainty rather than reliance on consensus narratives.
